The rise of the internet, social media, and smartphones has given everyone the freedom to share their thoughts with the world. At the same time, however, we have become increasingly aware of how to attract the attention of others. On platforms tied to advertising models that drive creators toward "gaining attention," it has become surprisingly difficult to simply talk about the things we love in our own genuine voice.

Streaming services have also made an enormous amount of music available anytime. This is undoubtedly a wonderful change. Yet with such abundance, our attention has become more fleeting, and opportunities to pause, sit with a single song, and truly reflect on it are gradually slipping away.

I do not wish to view technological progress with pessimism. Rather, I believe that modern communication and the way we experience music need some kind of "prescription." With a deep love for both the internet and music, I designed Chooning with that belief in mind.

The name Chooning comes from the wish to "tune" the relationship between people and music into a comfortable balance. Stepping away from the pressure of seeking attention, and feeling the presence of others who love music just as much as you do, I hope you can spend a quiet, gentle moment here—just for you and the music.
